The 40 youngsters in Stepping Stones Transitional Housing (Newhallville) and Hillside Family Shelter (Hill) have been outfitted with supplies and bags to prepare for a successful
school year. Both sites are programs of Christian Community Action, offering both parents and children services, counseling and workforce development training.
In what has become an annual rite, the employees of the CT. State Departments of Economic and Community Development and Consumer Protection collaborated to even the playing field for homeless youngsters in New Haven, Bridgeport and Waterbury. According to Lindy Lee Gold (pictured), delivery day is “one of the best days of the year!” It demonstrates the
personal commitment to community that is shared by all of these state workers. “We make a living by what we earn; we make a life by what we give,” she quotes as the mantra for the initiative.
