Staffers from the International Festival of Arts & Ideas are inviting potential employees, sponsors, and vendors to an April 9 meeting to discuss what the organization’s website describes as a “wide range of involvement opportunities.”
Lizzie Donius, the festival’s community engagement coordinator, said in an e‑mail, “Every year there are seasonal positions that become available as we move closer to festival time (June 16 – 30). All available positions are posted on our website … and I would recommend that job-seekers check back with the page often, especially this month, when there are several job searches going on.”
Donius said the festival is also looking for volunteers and interns.
“Every year we have hundreds of volunteer slots for ushers, survey takers, concert hosts, and attendants for our new Welcome Pavilion,” Donius said, adding that “volunteers are truly the life blood of the festival,” and can find relevant information online.
“High school or college age students interested in work experience, arts experience or school credit,” Donius said, should inquire about festival internships.
Businesses, too, are encouraged to learn about festival-related opportunities.
“We have numerous sponsorship opportunities available, from corporate sponsorships that provide the most visibility in exchange for financial support, to sponsorship of the Hospitality Tent for a day to entertain clients and reward employees,” Donius said. “Businesses can also sponsor the festival Welcome Pavilion for a day, which is newly designed this year by the Yale School of Architecture. We also offer a sponsorship of Box City, which is our free opening-weekend activity for parents and children on the New Haven Green, where families create a model city out of boxes and collaborate together on what an ideal city must have to be viable.”
Donius also said the festival has “had success with food vendors, and this year we are working hard to recruit even more.”
Staff from the International Festival of Arts & Ideas will host an “opportunities meeting” on Monday, April 9, at 6 p.m., at the New Haven Free Public Library. Information about the above-mentioned opportunities can be found on the festival’s website, artidea.org.
