Victoria Gardner has stepped down as general manager at the Hillhouse Opera Company.
“Sarah Kennedy, who has been involved with HOC on many levels, has been named Interim General Manager, while Gardner will continue to have input as founder and President of HOC,” the organization said in a press release.
Gardner is vacating the general managership to focus on her July 2012 nuptials.
Kennedy, who’s been working with the company on its upcoming production of Puccini’s La Bohème, was quoted in the press release as saying: “I am inspired to be collaborating on La Bohème with music director Perry Price and this very gifted cast of vocalists and musicians. … Each rehearsal is filled with such team work and enthusiasm. The beauty and quality of the artists’ performances truly bring joy to all who experience them.”
Gardner said that when she founded the Hillhouse Opera Company in 2008, “it was kind of my intent to start it … (and then to) pass the baton on to someone else.”
An opera company, she said, “always needs (an) infusion of new ideas.”
The Hillhouse Opera Company will present La Bohème this Saturday, November 12, at 7:30 p.m., at the High Lane Club in North Haven. For details, go here.
