Hillhouse Picks Its Top Twenty

James Hillhouse High School celebrated its Top Ten Females and Top Ten Males at a luncheon at Brazis on Monday, November 9, 2009. They were joined by the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Reginald Mayo and the school’s Principal, Dr. Lonnie Garris, Jr. The celebration included special recognition of the class valedictorian, Shayna Smith (pictured above with her mother Eva Smith) along with the celebration of the Top Ten Females and Top Ten Males of the 2010 graduating class.

All of these students are college bound and are applying to schools such as Columbia University, Fordham University, Southern Connecticut State University, Yale University, North Carolina A & T, Gateway Community College, University of Connecticut, University of New Haven, Sacred Heart University, Luther College, Delaware State University, Howard University and Quinnipiac University just to name a few. Some of their career goals are to become teachers, Civil Engineers, Psychologists, Physical Therapists, Nurses, Lawyers, Politicians, Social Workers, Psychologists, and Businessmen.

This event was organized by Mrs. Shirley Love Joyner, Assistant Principal in charge of Guidance.
