Quinnipiac University has named Grace Brady executive director of the school’s Ireland’s Great Hunger Museum, which opened to the public on Thursday.
“Before coming to Quinnipiac, Brady was the assistant secretary to the board of trustees and general manager in the office of the senior vice president, secretary and general counsel at The Metropolitan Museum of Art,” according to a university news release.
The museum’s website indicates that the new facility is an expansion of the Lender Family Special Collection Room at Quinnipiac University.
“This initial collection of art, research and educational materials has been augmented during the past 15 years and now represents the world’s largest collection of Great Hunger-related art and educational resources,” language on the museum’s website explains.
In a news release announcing the museum’s opening, Quinnipiac University John Lahey was quoted as saying, “The museum will preserve, build and present its art collection in order to stimulate reflection, inspire imagination and advance awareness of Ireland’s Great Hunger and its long aftermath on both sides of the Atlantic.”
