Geoff Fox, Chris Velardi, and Vinnie Penn will each walk — if only for a night — in the footsteps of such comic giants as Dan Ayckroyd, John Belushi, Tina Fey, Bill Murray, and Gilda Radner.

According to a press release issued by Long Wharf Theatre on Monday, Fox, Velardi, and Penn will perform along with the company of The Best of the Second City during its run at Long Wharf Theatre July 15 – 19. Penn will perform on Wednesday, July 15, Velardi will take his turn on Thursday, July 16, and Fox will get his chance on Saturday, July 18.”

Penn, who hosts The Vinnie Penn Project on WELI radio, was quoted in the press release as saying: It is the realization of a lifelong dream not only to perform with this revered troupe but as a New Haven native to stand on the very stage I grew up watching so many wonderful productions on. I look forward to making an ass of myself on stage now, as opposed to simply on-air.”

Fox, who worked as a meteorologist at WTNH before joining the staff at WTIC, and Velardi, who hosts Good Morning Connecticut for WTNH, expressed similar excitement over their upcoming appearances with The Second City Touring Company.

The Second City has, over the course of 50-plus years, produced some of the most revered names in comedy, including Ayckroyd, Belushi, Fey, Murray, Radner, John Candy, Mike Myers, Harold Ramis, and Martin Short, to name just a handful.
