Joshua Borenstein, former associate managing director at Long Wharf Theatre, will return to the organization on an interim basis while a permanent successor to Ray Cullom is sought. In March, Cullom announced his resignation as the organization’s managing director, a position he assumed in May 2009.
According to a press release issued by the organization on Friday, “Borenstein will serve at the theatre until a permanent successor is named. The Board of Trustees will begin the process of selecting a search firm to find the theatre’s next managing director.”
Steven Scarpa, Long Wharf Theatre’s director of marketing and communications, said, “The Board is working on a time line to find a search firm to fill the position permanently.”
Borenstein worked at Long Wharf Theatre from 2003 to 2008 and currently serves as a project manager at the Fairfield-based (and Petaluma, California-based) consulting firm AMS Planning & Research Corp. In 2006 — during his tenure at Long Wharf Theatre — Borenstein served as interim managing director before Joan Channick assumed that role on a permanent basis.
Mary Pepe, chair of Long Wharf Theatre’s Board of Trustees, was quoted in the above-mentioned press release as saying: “We are thrilled to have Josh back to help us through this time of transition. He knows Long Wharf Theatre and is well respected by both the Board of Trustees and the staff.”
Borenstein is a graduate of Wesleyan University and the Yale School of Drama.
