The Milford Fine Arts Council has named Van Parker its new executive director. Parker succeeds Bill Meddick, “who had been with the Milford Fine Arts Council for 32 years,” according to Kristine Kinsella, the organization’s business and communications director.
A press release issued by the Milford Fine Arts Council indicates that “Parker … has significant not-for profit management experience and development activity having recently served as either executive director or development director for … St. Luke’s LifeWorks in Stamford, the Transportation Association of Greenwich, and the Greenwich Land Trust. In addition … he has served as senior credit officer and vice president for Xerox Credit, Inc. and as a vice president and manager with The United States Trust Company of New York.”
In an email message, Kinsella wrote, “The MFAC Board of Directors conducted a very intensive and thorough search and interview process. The Board is hopeful that Mr. Parker’s experience in finance, business, and not-for-profits combined with his interest in jazz piano and writing, will be the perfect skill-set to guide the MFAC going forward.”
Parker, who “studied jazz piano with John Mehegan in Manhattan and enjoys writing fiction,” according to the above-mentioned press release, began his work at the Milford Fine Arts Council in August. He lives in Wilton.
