More Students Arrested For Prank Threats

Police continued arresting students they say are responsible for issuing threats of violence that have been locking down or shutting down schools in recent days.

Hamden police announced Wednesday afternoon that they arrested a 13-year-old who made online threats against Hamden’s high school and middle school on Tuesday. They charged him with first-degree threatening and second-degree breach of peace. Detective Shawn Nutcher of the Major Crimes Unit was credited with leading the investigation.

I hope this development provides a measure of relief and helps to increase confidence in our school’s safety, and the safety of our teachers, students, and support staff. This has been a trying time for our community,” Mayor Lauren Garrett stated in a release. I would urge that we continue to provide mental and emotional support to all those in need. Additionally, I would like to commend the HPD for their steadfast efforts throughout this daunting ordeal, as they maintained a watchful presence over our schools.”

New Haven police announced the arrest of a 13-year-old Conte West Hills student for allegedly making threats against his school this week.

Those arrests follow the state police arrest Tuesday of two 14-year-old Eli Whitney students for violent threats sent to the technical school and the arrest by New Haven police of a 17-year-old Wilbur Cross student who allegedly phoned in a false report about a person with a gun in the building.
