Shoreline Arts Scholarship Apps Ready

The Shoreline Arts Alliance is accepting applications for its 2012 Shoreline’s Top Talent: Scholarships in the Arts. The organization’s website indicates that high school juniors and seniors of exceptional talent residing in the Shoreline region are considered for scholarship awards of $1,000 in creative writing, dance, instrumental music, vocal music, theatre, and visual arts.”

The postmark deadline for scholarship applications in February 1, 2012. Instrumental and vocal auditions are scheduled for March 3, 2012, with dance auditions scheduled for March 4, 2012, and theater auditions scheduled for March 6, 2012. Creative writing and visual arts portfolios must be submitted by March 2, 2012, and March 24, 2012, respectively. Scholarship winners will be announced on the Shoreline Arts Alliance’s website on April 4, 2012.

The scholarship application form indicates that competitors are judged on creativity, composition, technical skill and presentation. The competition is narrowed down by the judges to two finalists (one winner and one special recognition awardee) in each arts category. … Judges in each category may award one winner a $1,000 cash prize and a mentoring session with a professional in that art field. A special recognition awardee in each category may also be chosen to receive a mentoring session.”

This year’s competition will represent the Shoreline Arts Alliance’s 31st annual Shoreline’s Top Talent: Scholarships in the Arts cycle.
