“Peace tastes like blueberry pie. Have a slice, don’t be shy.”
Kids rapped that line to string accompaniment Monday in a celebration that merged musical traditions in an uplifting tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The occasion was the third annual joint MLK musical celebration put on by the St. Luke’s Steel Band, the Haven String Quartet and Music Haven on Monday at St. Luke’s Church on Whalley.
Students penned the peace rap with the help of spoken word Aaron Jafferis (pictured); the Haven String Quartet backed them up. Click on the play arrow at the top of the story to watch a video by Ian Melchinger.
