With¬†a combined age of more than 2,600 years, this group of greater New Haven area Centenarians (persons 100 years-of-age and older) gathered for the Agency¬†on Aging of South Central Connecticut’s 23rd Annual Centenarian Luncheon held at¬† the Jewish Community Center in Woodbridge.
May is Older Americans Month, with¬†this year’s theme; “Living Today For a Better Tomorrow.” By 2030, one in¬†every five Americans will be age 65 or older. The celebration of May as Older¬†Americans Month began in 1963 and has become a tradition.¬†It is a great opportunity to bring¬†attention to the issues that affect older adults and create community-wide¬†opportunities to help older Americans improve their quality of life. Each¬†Centenarian was treated to lunch and received a special certificate from the¬†Connecticut Commission on Aging.
