Under cover of darkness, a gang of flamingos popped up at 196 West Rock Ave.
Parents who put them revealed a covert mission — to raise money for the flocks of students at the Edgewood Magnet School.
In honor of Edgewood’s 100th anniversary, the parents have been moving two stands of plastic flamingos around the neighborhood to a different lawn each day. The goal is to raise $10,000 for smart boards for the school.
Each time the birds appear on someone’s lawn, that person gets a letter announcing, “You’ve Been Flocked.” The letter directs the “victim” to make a donation to the school in order to have the birds removed. Parents aim to keep the birds moving for 100 nights—click here to track the birds’ migration and to learn more.
