Annie Rosen
Annie Rosen, a mezzo-soprano in the Yale School of Music’s opera program, will compete on March 11 in the semifinal round of the Metropolitan Opera’s National Council Auditions, having won at the regional level on January 29, 2011, in Boston.
According to the National Council Auditions page on the Metropolitan Opera’s website, “the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions is a program designed to discover promising young opera singers and assist in the development of their careers. … approximately ten of the Semi-Finalists are selected as National Finalists and compete the following Sunday (March 18) in a public concert, the Grand Finals Concert, accompanied by the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra.”
Rosen earned an undergraduate degree from Yale College’s Department of Music and her master’s degree from Mannes College The New School for Music in New York, according to a Yale School of Music news release. She will earn a master’s degree from the Yale School of Music this year.
Yale School of Music bass-baritone Andrew Brown, who will earn an artist’s diploma this year, finished in third place at the regional round of the National Council Auditions. Baritone Cameron McPhail, who will earn a master’s degree this year, received an “Encouragement Award.”
