John Sizemore.
John E. Sizemore, 84, of New Haven passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2023, at the Arden House. John was affectionately known as “Papa,” “Johnny,” and “Biggy.”
He was born October 23, 1938, to the late William Dotson and Martha Carrington Sizemore. John was honorably discharged from the United States Army and taught in the New Haven Public Schools for 35 years at Bawldin/King School and Troup Middle School.
John leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 51 years, Dorinda Sizemore of New Haven; daughter, Alexis (Todd) Sizemore of New Haven; sister, Lizzie of Fuquay-Verina, NC; grandson, Raymond Sizemore of Hampton, VA; and a host of family and friends. He was predeceased by his late parents and 13 siblings.
John’s life will be celebrated on Monday, March 20, 2023, at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 255 Goffe Street, New Haven, CT. Calling hours with the Omega Omega service will take place during 9 – 10:00 am with the celebration of life starting at 10:00 am.
Immediately following the service, the final resting place with military honors will take place at Beaverdale Memorial Park. Funeral services will be done by Howard K. Hill Funeral Services, 1287 Chapel Street New Haven, CT.
