Romei: 5 new cameras coming to Chapel West.
A man danced in daylight at the intersection of Chapel and Church as downtown police and security personnel tried coaxing him out of the street. Onlookers had pulled out their cell phones to record him — joined by the Town Green Special Services District.
In case you haven’t noticed, your comings and goings downtown and along Upper Chapel and Dwight are likely being recorded.
It began with accusations of “rewarding” a “slumlord” with city money. It ended with a hug, and promise to ensure that a rundown stretch of Whalley Avenue will get cleaned up.

Tom Talbot: Tom Talbot was right this time.
Neighbors made use of a little-known appeals process to try to overturn a zoning staffer’s decision — only to have the staffer write a subsequent opinion to uphold his own decision.
The episode brought to light a still-to-be-resolved question about how the city’s zoning board reviews public appeals.

Poised at the front of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Robert Davis raised his chin, lifting his lips to the microphone.
Voice steady, he read: “We must use our time creatively, in knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right. Now is the time to make real the promise to democracy and transform our pending national elegy into a creative psalm of brotherhood. Now is the time to lift our national policy from the quicksand of racial injustice to the solid rock of human dignity.”

Edge of the Woods has been a neighborhood anchor, with a diverse clientele, for over 25 years.
Since Edge of the Woods owner Peter Dodge bought his natural-foods grocery store’s shopping plaza and spruced it up, visual changes have spilled out to the Whalley Avenue corridor.
A 73-year-old man was apparently crossing against a “Don’t Walk” signal at Whalley and Orchard around 8:20 p.m. Monday when a motorcyclist hit him — and may end up having killed him.
