What if the current three-month CT Transit bus-fare holiday went on … forever?

Downtown/East Rock Alder Eli Sabin has raised that question, and thrown his support behind that outcome, with a newly submitted resolution that calls on the state to make riding the bus free for Connecticut residents, permanently.

Robert Boyd stepped into his Dallas Cowboys slippers and took his granddaughter out on Orchard Street to the school bus stop — unaware they’d be staying there for close to an hour.

When the bus arrived, Boyd was grateful for another day that Dasani can attend Nathan Hale across town.

Twenty-two new electric buses should hit the streets of New Haven, Hartford, Bridgeport, Waterbury, and Stamford over the next year and a half, thanks in part to a newly awarded $11.4 million federal grant to help the state transportation department wean itself off of fossil fuels.

Tweed-New Haven Airport’s fast-paced expansion of daily flights continued, with the announcement Tuesday that Avelo Airlines will now fly nonstop to the hubs of Chicago and Washington, D.C. as well as Raleigh-Durham, N.C.

An average of 826 parking spaces at Union Station’s garage sat empty and unused every day in January — even as the city and the state plan to add 600 new structured parking spaces” to the transit hub over the coming decades.

New Hamden Town Engineer Aims For Safer Streets

Stephen White, Hamden’s new town engineer wants stronger sidewalks, safer crosswalks, and a continued partnership with his counterpart to the south, New Havener of the Year Giovanni Zinn. 

White, a past project manager with New Haven’s engineering department under Zinn, is one of three appointees Mayor Lauren Garrett announced Monday will be moving into Government Center. Garrett also named Safija Farooqui the acting chief assessor and Jeffrey Naples assistant fire chief.
