An 18-year-old New Havener named Anthony Strother was shot to death Monday night.
Police responded to a call about the shooting on South Genesee Street between East Ramsdell Street and Harper Avenue around 11:30 p.m., according to department spokesperson Officer Scott Shumway. They arrived to find Strother shot; he was taken by ambulance to the hospital, “where he succumbed to his injuries,” Shumway reported.
No other information about the shooting was immediately available.
This is New Haven’s fourth homicide of the year. The shooting occurred a week after the shooting death of 15-year-old Elijah Gomez in the vicinity of the Farmington Canal Trail in Hamden.
