The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce held a graduation ceremony last week for its “community leadership development program.”
The program is called Leadership Greater New Haven. It was established in 1986 to identify and train leaders in corporate, not-for-profit, and government sectors.
The Leadership Greater New Haven Class of 2013, which had 23 members, met monthly from October through March.
This year’s topics included: True Colors: A Personality Inventory, Principles of Organizational Leadership, Negotiation skills, New Haven Public School reform and Promise program, Career Check Up, Creating an Impressive Personal Image and Brand, Presentation Skills, Social Media Marketing, Board Development, Tweed New Haven Airport, Empathy in the Workplace, Diversity and Inclusion Awareness and the New Haven Arts Community.
In addition to monthly sessions, class members participated in a community service project that required at least 20 hours of community service. This year’s teams worked with American Heart Association, Boys and Girls Club of New Haven, Marrakech Inc., New Haven Symphony Orchestra, Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut.
