A double shooting took place Monday afternoon on Thompson Street between Shelton Avenue and Newhall Street.
The shooting occurred just after 1 p.m., according to Police Chief Karl Jacobson.
One man, a 26-year-old from Newhallville whom Jacobson said he knows personally, sustained life-threatening injuries from multiple bullets, the chief said. The other, who is 20 years old, sustained a non-life-threatening leg injury.
“It appears that they were targeted,” Jacobson said.
The police closed off surrounding streets as they began investigating the incident. No other details were immediately available.
