(Updated) Two people died from gunshot wounds in the Hill Tuesday night.
The shots were reported at 10:42 p.m.
Police arrived at the scene, at Dewitt Street between Putnam and Spring, to find one man “believed to be in his 20s” (as yet unidentified) already deceased, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman. Wednesday afternoon, the victim was identified as 25-year-old Dyshant Levi Mclean, who most recently lived in Hamden.
Police found another man, 36-year-old Tyree McCrea of New Haven, at the scene, also shot but still alive. He was pronounced dead “about an hour later” at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Hartman said.
A release quoted Assistant Chief Achilles Generoso saying that “investigators believe the victims were targeted and that the shootings were not random.”
