Connecticut U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal has endorsed Democrat Justin Elicker for mayor.
The Elicker campaign announced the endorsement Thursday morning. The state’s other senator, Chris Murphy, endorsed Elicker last week during a visit to Science Park.
This endorsement came by press release.
“Justin Elicker is dedicated to improving the lives of New Haven residents,” a campaign release quoted Elicker as saying. “His energy and strong work ethic, combined with a powerful intellect and deep integrity, will bring vibrant leadership to the city. He is committed to spurring economic development that benefits the entire community.”
Elicker faces three-term incumbent Mayor Toni Harp in the Nov. 5 general election. Harp, whom Elicker defeated by 58 – 42 percent in a Democratic primary, will this time have her name on the Working Families Party line.
