The Board of Aldermen saluted three Wooster Square cops Monday night for their exemplary community policing.

The board gave official citations to Sgts. Tammi Means and Herb Johnson (pictured), and Officer Ralph Consiglio, son of a now-retired Wooster Square beat cop.

The recognition was initiated by Wooster Square Alderwoman Mike Smart, who’s in his last month on the board before assuming the role of city clerk. All three cops work in Smart’s Ward 8.

Unlike other police citations, the recognition wasn’t bestowed for any particular deed, but just for being great neighborhood cops and being very responsive to the community.

Thank you for your dedicated police service,” the citations read. Aldermen praised the cops as role models for community policing.

Sgt. Johnson said he was humbled by the award. Sgt. Means (pictured) said the award demonstrates the importance of communication.

Officer Consiglio was out on patrol.
