4 Arrests In Cedar Hill

Good news for Cedar Hill residents: the cops caught four young men allegedly causing trouble in the neighborhood and charged them with a variety of gun, drug and interfering charges.

According to Officer Joe Avery, police received a call of a loud gunshot in the neighborhood (off State Street near the Hamden border) at 3:48 p.m. Sunday. Officer Jason Minardi arrived and tried to stop a group of men leaving the scene. He followed them to a basement on Ridge Street.

With the help of back-up, Minardi detained the men. The cops said they found a sawed-off shot gun, drug packaging materials, and a small amount of marijuana — and, after checking around some more, a 9 mm pistol.

The men ranged in age from 22 to 25. One was charged with possession of a sawed-off shotgun, unlawful discharge, and interfering with a police officer. A second was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia; he had three outstanding arrest warrants, too. The other two were charged with interfering. Only one of the four men lives in the neighborhood.

Also Sunday, gunshots were heard at Hemingway and Eastern, in Fair Haven Heights, at 10:23 p.m. Cops couldn’t find any shell casings at the scene.
