If you’re going to see the Jersey Boys during its upcoming run at the Shubert, don’t be surprised if your usher is also your alderman.
Two thirds of the city’s 30 aldermen have taken Morris Cove Alderman Sal DeCola (pictured) up on his challenge to promote volunteerism. They’re all taking a night during the Sept. 25 — Oct. 7 run of Jersey Boys to serve as volunteer ushers at the Shubert to promote volunteerism citywide. It’s also a food drive to help restock the city’s food pantries.
DeCola will be there opening night. Canned goods you bring will go to the food pantry at Saint Bernadette‘s Church, and other alder-designated pantries during the run of the show.

Shubert General Manager Sheri Kaplan, pictured, said the theater’s 290 volunteers have saved the arts organization .5 million since 1984.
