Hamden police have made another arrest and confiscated a gun and narcotics in connection with an ongoing investigation into a 2021 double shooting.

They made the arrest, of a 27-year-old man, on Tuesday.

Here’s what happened, according to a release issued Wednesday by Hamden police spokesperson Sean J. Dolan:

Detectives Jomo Crawford and Andrew Lipford were conducting surveillance” related to the investigation into the double non-fatal shooting that occurred on Dixwell Avenue on May 13, 2021, for which the department has already made two arrests. (One of those arrestees, James Harris, later died behind bars while awaiting trial.)

The two detectives had an arrest warrant for the 27-year-old man on firearms and assault and endangerment charges related to that double shooting. They went looking for him, and spotted him getting out of a car Tuesday on the 1500 block of Dixwell.

The suspect fled from the police and was apprehended after a foot pursuit,” Dolan wrote.

In the car police found narcotics and a stolen .40 caliber handgun that was altered and modified to shoot fully automatic.”

In addition to the offenses listed in the warrant, the man faces charges of criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, theft of a firearm, illegal possession of an assault weapon, illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession of narcotics, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

He is being held on $600,000 bond, with a March 15 court date scheduled.
