Anti-Gun-Violence Student Activists Back Elicker

The Connecticut chapter of the activist group Students for Gun Legislation Wednesday announced they’ve endorsed Justin Elicker for New Haven mayor.

The group calls for banning gun sales to people under 21, limiting firearms sale to one weapon per sale per customer, and a waiting period between purchasing and obtaining guns.

This is a public health emergency that we must tackle head-on, and Justin is the only candidate I fully trust to help us end the era in America where we no longer trust our schools, places of worship, supermarkets, and other public spaces to be safe. I hope you’ll join me in fighting to make Justin Elicker the next Mayor of New Haven so we can make this change a reality,” Ryan Cudworth, the group’s volunteer coordinator and co-founder was quoted as stating in a press release.

Elicker is challenge party-endorsed incumbent Mayor Toni Harp in a Sept. 10 Democratic primary.
