A 32-year-old New Haven man is in custody after allegedly phoning in a fake bomb threat that led police to clear out three government buildings.
An anonymous caller phoned police around 11:30 a.m. to report that bombs had been planted under NHPD HQ on Union Avenue, the Court Street federal building, and the U.S. District Court building at 141 Church.
Cops evacuated the buildings, searched them — and didn’t find any bombs.
They did promptly track down the man they said was responsible for the threats. He is being held on a $500,000 bond on first-degree threatening and breach of peace charges.
