A routine traffic stop turned into a discovery of over 100 packets of heroin, thanks to a canine named Boris, police reported.
Westville’s David Sepulveda sent these photos of the bust, which occurred around 8:15 p.m. Thursday on Whalley Avenue near the cemeteries.
Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer Joe Avery:
“This was a motor vehicle stop that turned into the arrests of three people for a large quantity of drugs. Boris the Patrol dog was involved along with two undercover officers.
“When the vehicle was stopped the people within were very nervous. As the officers started taking the subjects out of the vehicle Boris the canine reacted to the back passenger side door, when they took the passenger out in plain view was a packet of what was believed to be heroin. After searching all parties and the vehicle, 106 packets of what is believed to heroin was found.The male arrested was 24 years of age and from Pleasant Valley, N.Y. One of the females, 24 years old, was from Delray, Fla. The third arrested was a 29-year-old female from Waterbury. All were arrested on multiple drug charges.”
