Hamden police arrested a 14-year-old Meriden resident for allegedly firing shots at a vehicle.
The shooting took place back last May 27. At 4:30 p.m. that day, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Woodin Street and Pine Rock Avenue. Police later ascertained that someone deliberately fired “multiple” bullets at one of the vehicles, whose driver “was fleeing from a third vehicle that was chasing after them,” according to a release issued Tuesday by Hamden police spokesperson Sean J. Dolan.
The vehicle was hit. No people were hit.
Hamden Detective Jomo Crawford took the lead investigating the shooting, working in conjunction with New Haven’s Shooting Task Force. Investigators recovered a gun believed to be connected to the shooting. The trail eventually led to the 14-year-old from Meriden, who was arrested Tuesday. He was charged with multiple offenses, including first-degree criminal attempt to commit assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal discharge of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit, Dolan reported.
