A crowd of 165 people filled Amarante’s Tuesday night to toast some of New Haven’s private-sector leaders.
The occasion was Business New Haven’s annual “Business & Civic Awards” event. Editor Abelardo King and Publisher Norma Rodriguez-Reyes (in top photo) of La Voz Hispana (pictured above) accepted the award for minority businesspersons of the year.
Lindy Lee Gold, who has sat on more civic boards than the typical 100 New Haveners combined, was honored as citizen of the year.
Business New Haven Publisher Mitchell Young handed the innovator of the year award to Smilow Cancer Center’s Thomas Lynch Jr.
Wells Fargo (whose employees are pictured) picked up the corporate citizen award, while Matt Murphy of Murphy Distributors was named top small businessperson and Kennedy & Perkins’ Richard Kennedy, Jr. and Dart Messick won the founders award.
The overall businessperson of the year award went to developer Robert Landino, who is undertaking two separate $50 million building projects in New Haven. (Read about that, and about him, here.)
