CAA Gears Up For Census Season

U.S.Census%20Prep%20Class%20007.jpgWith the 2010 Census drawing near, the Community Action Agency has started training New Haveners to get involved. Sandra McKinnie (pictured) sent in the following report:

On Thursday evening, the Financial Asset Development Department of the Community Action Agency of New Haven held a class that educated citizens about the US Census Bureau and the significance of the 2010 Census. The class was scheduled from 6 – 9 pm and participants were welcomed with a light supper sponsored by Keith Solomon, owner of Popeye’s Chicken on Whalley Avenue.

Thirty people were educated by Trainers Cynthia Jennings, Esq. and Joe Rigsby on how to take the Census Employment Test. Sandra McKinnie, Coordinator of the Financial Asset Development Department received close to 200 calls over two days in response to the news of the class. The Community Action Agency is an official Testing Site for the U.S.Census Bureau and testing for the 2010 Census will be on February 11, 2009 at 5:30pm until 8pm at 781 Whalley Ave. New Haven, CT.
