Guns drawn, cops ordered a man out of a gold GMC SUV and had him walk backwards to them with his hands in the air. The police thought they might have the carjacker they were looking for — but it was the wrong guy.

Here’s what happened, according to Sgt. Max Joyner, Beaver Hills top cop:
Shortly before 2 p.m. Friday, two men approached a woman in her car — a gold GMC SUV — at Chapel and Kensington streets. “They produced a gun and entered her vehicle,” Joyner said.
For the next hour, the carjackers and the woman drove around in the car. Joyner said he didn’t know if the woman continued driving, or if one of the men took the wheel.
Eventually, the men let the woman go at the Stop & Shop on Whalley Avenue, where she contacted police.
Not long after that, at about 3 p.m., cops spotted a gold GMC SUV near the corner of Fitch and Dyer streets, Joyner said. In a “high-risk motor vehicle stop,” police “pulled over a vehicle that matched the description,” Joyner said.
In the video, cops have drawn guns trained on a man with his hands over his head who is backing up toward police cruisers. After the driver was taken into custody, the video shows, police ordered a passenger out of the SUV as well.
Joyner said police are still looking for the real carjackers.
“Hopefully we’ll get them before the night ends,” he said.
