The Board of Education Monday evening approved the promotion of Peter Solomon (pictured) to the position of coordinator of aquaculture at Sound School.
Solomon’s salary will begin at $126,645.
Schools Superintendent Iline Tracey celebrated Solomon being an internal district candidate and New Haven native.
Solomon has worked as a science teacher at the maritime-themed high school for 14 years.
“I’m really excited to step into this coordinator position and help this special school on the water,” Solomon said at Monday’s board meeting.
He founded the first scientific scuba diving program in a Connecticut public school, Tracey reported.
