Committee Named To Consider Columbus Replacement

Good-bye Columbus; who’s next?

Twenty-four New Haveners will begin deciding what will replace the 4,000-pound statue of Christopher Columbus in Wooster Square Park.

Elicker named the 24 people Monday to a committee exploring how to replace the Columbus statue, which the city removed last week.

Two members of the committee are as yet unnamed — it will be up to Board of Alders President Tyisha Walker-Myers to name them.

Following is the committee membership list released by Elicker’s office, including affiliations; the latest person on the list, historian and author and attorney Neil Proto, is serving an advisory rather than membership role:
