Cops Arrest Guy Fawkes”

Turns out it wasn’t actually a 17th-century British revolutionary who knocked over the Domino’s Pizza on Whalley Avenue.

It was just a woman in a Guy Fawkes mask, police said after arresting the suspect.

Here’s what happened, according to Lt. Julie Johnson:

At 11:20 p.m. Tuesday police responded to the Domino’s at 357 Whalley Ave. on a report of a robbery. The manager told cops that a woman in a white V For Vendetta” mask ran into the store, jumped the counter, and demanded money. She fled with two guys who were waiting outside.

The mask is a stylized version of the face of Guy Fawkes, one of a group of British revolutionaries who tried unsuccessfully to assassinate King James I in 1605. Popularized by the 2006 movie V For Vendetta,” the mask has become a staple feature of contemporary protest movements, including Occupy Wall Street, protests against the Church of Scientology, and the Anonymous hacktivist” group.

On Wednesday at 1:20 a.m. patrol cops were told that a stolen rental car was being driven on Chapel Street near Winthrop Avenue. Police pulled the car over and found a woman in the car matched the description of the robbery suspect. She had a white mask at her feet.

The 32-year-old was arrested and charged with robbery and larceny. The two male suspects have not been identified or arrested. Police are asking anyone with further information about the robbery to call the Investigative Services Division at (203) 946‑6304.
