New Haven Police Officers Jarrod Boyce, Chris Simon, and Marcin Podsiad thought they smelled marijuana as they patrolled the Cedar Hill neighborhood. They did — and they made a bust.
It happened Friday evening, according to Lt. Jeff Hoffman of the police department’s Tactical Narcotics Unit.
The three officers were patrolling the neighborhood (at the north end of New Haven off State Street near the Hamden line) when the odor wafted their way. It came from a Honda minivan parked, with the engine running, on Ridge Street.
So they approached the driver. Is there marijuana inside your minivan? they asked.
They did not deny that fact.
The cops arrested the driver and the passenger on possession and intent-to-sell charges. They said they found “five ounces of marijuana (worth approximately $500.00), and $7,835 in cash” in the minivan, Hoffman reported.
