A driver crashed his Toyota Camry into a tree on Olive Street south of Chapel around 11 p.m. Wednesday.
The air bags deployed, and no one immediately died, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman.
But the 37-year-old front-seat passenger, who is from New Haven, was critically injured. “His pulse was regained at the scene,” Hartman wrote.
The injuries of the 37-year-old driver and 41-year-old rear passenger, who are also from New Haven, were described as non-lifethreatening.
“Alcohol may be a factor,” Hartman reported. A crash investigation has begun.
