Gretchen Knauff, a crusader for the rights of the disabled, is New Haven government’s new acting director of disability services.
Knauff replaces Michelle Duprey, who moved from that position in January to a slot in the corporation counsel’s office. Duprey had spent more than two decades in her previous city position, advancing the rights and opportunities of people with disabilities.
Mayor Justin Elicker announced the appointment in a release issued Friday.
Knauff most recently served as executive director of Disability Rights Connecticut in a civil-rights advocacy career that began in the 1990s at the State Office of Protection and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities.
