Connecticut drivers may now avoid descending into Hell in order to remain behind the wheel legally.

More specifically, no longer will drivers need to show up in person at the Department of Motor Vehicles — an experience that inspires rare bipartisan hatred of government — to renew their licenses.

Gov. Ned Lamont announced Wednesday that residents can now renew licenses as well as non-driver ID cards online instead, building on a pilot through which 20,000 people have already done that.
