On Tuesday, for the first time ever, citizens can register to vote and cast ballots on the same day.
That’s because a new state law allows it.
In New Haven, citizens 18 and older who haven’t yet registered can show up at City Hall (165 Church St.), meeting rooms 1 and 2, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and sign up.
You’ll need to show ID. Acceptable forms include, according to the registrar of voters office:
• Driver’s license or learner’s permit.
• Utiilty bill.
• “A fee statement, a lease, library card with residential address, paycheck”
• For college students: “A fee statement, a lease, library card with residential address, paycheck, property tax bill.”
