Families Gather For Harvest Fest

IMG_0305.JPGSandra McKinnie, Coordinator of Financial Asset Development Department at the Community Action Agency of New Haven, hosted a Harvest Fest Celebration on Thursday, October 30, 2008. She sent in the following write-up and photos: 

The celebration was part of an ongoing outreach effort by Ms. McKinne who wanted to provide a safe haven for children to enjoy music, good food and fun with their family members. There were a total of 75 people in attendance — 32 families.

IMG_0313.JPGThe evening dinner was provided by Popeye’s Chicken of Whalley Ave., The Greek Olive, Ernie’s Pizzeria of Westville, and Alpha Delta Pizza. These sponsors were joined by the Edge of the Woods of New Haven, and Edible Arrangements of Hamden, CT. The music was provided by D.J.Blue of the D.J. Outlet of New Haven.

The collaborative effort between the City of New Haven, Parks and Recreation Department; Mr. Bill Dixon and Ms. McKinnie ended the evening with Harvest Fest families leaving Community Action Agency of New Haven to cross the street for enjoyment at the Haunted Pavilion” in Edgewood Park. Families listened to spooky music as they enjoyed the Edgewood Park Hay Ride.
