Firefighters overnight put out a blaze that displaced three adults and two children on Stevens Street.
The call came in at 11:34 p.m. Tuesday for the fire at the two-family home at 41 Stevens, according to Deputy Fire Chief James Watkins.
Firefighters arrived within six minutes and had the fire under control within 10 – 15 minutes, Watkins said.
The fire began in a rear first-floor bedroom, he said. The first-floor occupants had already left the building when firefighters arrived. The firefighters helped two people on the second floor get out. None of the occupants or the firefighters were injured.
The Red Cross has helped the five occupants temporarily relocate. Meanwhile, the fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
