Gone Dishin’ For Long Wharf at City Point

Joan Channick, new managing director of Long Wharf, with Yale Repertory Theatre Managing Director Vicki Nolan. The corporate community rolled out the welcome mat, once again, on Thursday night. Joan Channick, the newly appointed managing director at Long Wharf Theatre, was the guest of honor at Sage. David Silverstone, president of the Regional Water Authority, was the evening’s master of ceremonies, representing the other hosts.

Channick’s last position was as the managing director of Theatre Communication Group, the national service organization for the not-for-profit theatre world;she recently served as director of the U.S. Center of the International Theatre Institute. Her stellar career history is grounded in her triple degrees from Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania Law School and the Yale School of Drama, where she teaches a course on legal issues affecting the arts. Long Wharf could not have made a more strategic choice in light of its current and long term projects.

Regional Water Authority President David Silverstone.Gordon Edelstein (artistic director) and Mary Pepe (president of the Long Wharf Theatre board) were joined by Jerry (chairman of the board) and Ros Meyer, Robin Sauerteig (board VP), Louise Endel and Sally (board member) and Steve Glick . Guests included A.T.&T’s John Emra, Roger Joyce(president of Bilco Company and CBIA). The world of higher education was well represented by Cheryl Norton (president of SCSU), Steve Kaplan (president of UNH), Mike Morand (assistant VP at Yale) and Rosanne Zudekoff (development director at Albertus Magnus). Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro made a well received dramatic entrance as well. Jim Torgerson, (UI Holdings president), a recent honoree at a similar welcoming reception, was proof of how quickly individuals integrate into the New Haven community as he greeted nearly each guest by name. Vicki Nolan (managing director of the Yale Repertory Theatre and faculty member at Y.S.D.) was there to support her colleague. Barbara Feldman, Lindy Gold and Pat Sweet probably donned their Arts Council hats. Connie Evans, newly appointed director of Development at Long Wharf, worked the room with the help of other staffers.

Sally and Steve Glick, owners of Chamber Insurance Trust and arts patrons extraordinaire. While guests wined and dined, “Rocket to the Moon” started its preview week. Having has an incredible success with “Durango”, Long Wharf is on the road to another successful season and a solid future with an unparalleled group of professionals.
