Hill Central School Principal Nicole Brown has been placed on administrative leave.
In the meantime, the school district has tapped the assistant principal of Conte West Hills to lead the 140 Dewitt St. school.
New Haven Public Schools spokesperson Justin Harmon confirmed Monday that Brown has been placed on leave. When asked why, Harmon stated, “We don’t comment on personnel matters.”
He did add that Conte West Hills Assistant Principal Tom McCarthy is assisting with administrative matters at Hill Central while the principal is out.
Brown stepped up to helm Hill Central in 2022 after the retirement of former Principal Jaime Ramos. In 2016, several educators fought to get Brown appointed as assistant principal rather than a candidate former Superintendent Garth Harries chose.
Brown did not respond to requests for comment by this article’s publication.
