On Jan, 21, while Barack Obama celebrates being sworn in to his second term in office, New Haveners will be cutting a rug at an inaugural ball of their own.
Democratic Party Town Chair Jackie James is helping to organize a presidential inaugural ball at the Omni Hotel on Monday, Jan. 21, Martin Luther King Day.
The event is a benefit for New Haven Works, the new local “jobs pipeline” organization.
The evening will include dinner and dancing, with three tiers of tickets. “Patrons” ($125) will arrive at 5:45 p.m. to partake of hors d’oeuvres and an open bar on the top floor of the Omni, followed by dinner and dancing in the Grand Ballroom. “Supporters” ($60) will arrive at 6:30 p.m. for dinner, dessert, and dancing in the Grand Ballroom, where there will be a cash bar. “Guests” ($25) can arrive at 8 p.m. for desserts and dancing and cash bar access.
