Lamont Stewart on his morning walk break.

Lamont Stewart walked across the intersection of Elm Street and Church Street finishing his last bites of a plain toasted bagel with cream cheese from Bruegger’s Bagels, taking a morning break from his shift at Technolutions.

I didn’t want to wait until lunch to eat. I was hungry,” Stewart said Monday morning during a conversation on the Word on the Street” segment of WNHH FM’s LoveBabz LoveTalk” program. I don’t drink coffee. I have so much energy because I have a great job. I also drank some lemon water so that might have contributed to it.”

Stewart takes pride in elevating his career. He’s been working at Technolutions as a technical writer for the past seven months.

The last company that I worked for in Bristol was good but I definitely upgraded,” Stewart said. You make the world that you live in,” Stewart said.

Stewart enjoys walking and being out in nature. This past weekend was spent by the pool for the first time since before the pandemic, he said.

I read Will Smith’s book. I’m not anti-Will Smith, despite everyone else’s opinion,” Stewart said. Now it’s going to rain today, but that’s good. We need water!”

Stewart commute to work daily by train. He said that’s easier than driving.

Except now CTrail is shutting down their service starting mid-July” on the Hartford line through Sept. 9, Stewart said. Until September. They announced it quietly a few weeks ago. I don’t understand why they have to shut it down just to do some work. They are offering a bus replacement, but if I can’t deal with that then I will be driving.”

Stewart gets to work usually around 9 a.m.

It’s a casual day today,” Stewart said. As long as you do your work and take care of what you need to, then you’re good.”

He expected head home around 4 p.m.

I haven’t even thought that far ahead yet of what I’m going to do later, but I’m probably going to clean my apartment … more,” Stewart said. I know that I’m also going to investigate a paint-and-sip place that I could go to. That’s what’s on my mind.”

Towards the end of the iconversation, Stewart decided to talk about other issues on his mind including: Why do the Democrats fight harder against progressives than they do actual Republicans?”

It’s very difficult to be a progressive and watch everything that’s happening,” Stewart said. But if my position as a black socialist is the same position as Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr., the Black Panther Party … and you see what happened to them — that kind of lets you know what America thinks of that thought process.”

I’m enjoying the freedoms that I have while I still have them,” Stewart said. I feel like life is on a continuous, downward spiral with no possibility of coming up. The objective is to enjoy as much as you can while you can, because it’s only going to get progressively worse.”
