If you have 36 minutes — and you wondered what the police chief, a police critic, and a retired cop-turned-lawmaker had to say directly to each other in a spirited debate — now you can watch the whole event.
Chief Frank Limon, activist Barbara Fair, and Alderman (and retired police Captain) Gerald Antunes had that debate on Feb. 10 at Bru Cafe on Orange Street. (It took place before last week’s layoffs of 16 beat cops.)
The Independent invited the three to debate tasers, rifles, the recent rank-and-file no-confidence vote in the chief, and police brutality. It was an unusually spirited and civil exchange of views on a contentious topic in town these days. A NBC Connecticut Channel 30 crew filmed the discussion and aired a story on it; the Independent ran a 3:49 report with highlights.
Some readers asked about the other 32 minutes, during which the participants directly challenged each other and responded in more depth to hot-button issues. We have the full uncut version here, in case you’d like to watch. Click on the play arrow above.
NBC’s Cameramen Dan Lee and Daryl Vallez shot the video.
