An incident police believe say may have started with a fight in New Haven’s Annex neighborhood ended with the shooting death of 25-year-old Deshawn Maysonet of Hamden.
Police responded to a call about the shooting Saturday at 4:19 a.m.
The caller “reported hearing several gunshots, possibly stemming from a fight in the area” of Fairmont Avenue, between East Ferry and Lancraft streets in the Annex, according to police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart.
They arrived to find that that someone had already driven the shot person, Maysonet, to Yale New Haven Hospital. Officers arrived at the hospital around the same time as Maysonet, who “was pronounced deceased from his wounds,” Bruckhart wrote in a release.
He asked anyone with information to call the police at 203 – 946-6304 or anonymously at 866 – 888-TIPS (8477).
