Police are investigating a homicide that took place in Fair Haven Heights Saturday afternoon.
911 calls came in shortly after 2 p.m. about a single-car rollover accident near Russell Street and Highview Lane. Firefighters arrived to find a 35-year-old New Haven man named Cedric Goodwin unconscious inside the car, a black Honda CR‑V. Medics discovered he’d been shot in the back. Goodwin was pronounced dead at Yale New Haven Hospital. Police found ballistic evidence in the road.
“Detectives do not believe this was a random attack,” police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart stated in a release. He asked anyone with information to call 203 – 946-6304 or the 866 – 888-TIPS (8477) anonymous tip line.
Goodwin, who was known as “Ceddyo,” was sentenced in 2022 to prison followed by supervised release on federal gun and drug charges.
